Does anyone have any experience with them? I’m thinking about getting one since they are only around 120.00 and I wanted to know if they really help you increase your economy or are they just a novelty? Lemme know....

you can stay at the dock to save fuel and drink beer....but you would still have a GPH problem!

I do have them but have not used them enough to know if there is a benefit to them yet, will get back to you when have enough information.

I think the biggest benifit to having them is knowing exactly how much fuel you have on board.. The digital readout on mine tells me exactly how much gas I burn between fill ups and I never have to worry about running dry as long as I don’t stray too far from a gas dock.  smile

Ok

hi,
I’d make a point to talk to the mechanic and see what they found. I’ve never flown a 182 with an IO-480, but with a fluctuation like that I would probably have to suspect something to do with the fuel pressure sending unit or perhaps, more serious, a fuel pump. Could it be a faulty gauge? Sure, but like Ralpha’s tachometer, faulty gauges “constantly swing back and forth”. From my experience, they continue their erratic indications. I have now told you everything I know about this kind of thing. I’m sure that there must be some experienced light aircraft mechanics on this forum.

LOL I’m glad you told us all you know about this kind of thing and all of your mombo jumbo would be great if we were talking about airplanes but we’re not.. This is a boating site not an aircraft site. Also the link in your sig is not about boating and should be removed if you plan on staying in these forums.. READ THE FORUM RULES…
